Lauren's Journey to Health and Happiness

Mar 15, 2026

When I first met Lauren, she was a 46-year-old Southern girl who had lost touch with her true self. She avoided mirrors, felt uncomfortable in her own skin, and her low self-esteem was compounded by a verbally abusive boss. This negativity seeped into her personal life, leaving her feeling emotionally bound and stuck in a rut. As a mother of two, she wanted to be a role model for her kids, but her weight and the weight of her struggles was holding her back.

Lauren came to me after trying another health program, and she was hopeful and skeptical. Hopeful that maybe working with someone familiar to her would make a difference, skeptical knowing that she had tried just about everything already and the odds were against her. At first, she resisted the idea of living without meat. However, that all changed when she began to see the potential for transformation. I encouraged her to watch the documentary “What the Health,” which challenges conventional beliefs about diet and health. Suddenly, her mindset shifted from “I can’t go to a meal without meat” to “What do I need to do to be vegan?”

Through our sessions, we addressed much more than her eating habits; we also focused on the emotional barriers that had kept her from enjoying life. Lauren was stuck in a lifelong cycle of anxiety and familiarity, often resorting to the same comfort foods and practices. With my support, she bravely stepped outside her comfort zone, experimenting with new ingredients and dishes. The transformation wasn’t just about food; it was about opening her heart and mind to new experiences.

After three solid years of working together, I saw incredible progress. Lauren shed a significant amount of weight, and eight years later she still is loyal to her workout routine and exercises four days a week. She even landed a new job that truly values her talents, breaking free from the toxic work environment that had held her back for so long.

Today, Lauren is a proud vegetarian who embraces her new lifestyle with enthusiasm. She feels good about who she is and what she’s doing for herself and her family. Most importantly, she has gained the confidence to look in the mirror and smile back at the woman she has become.

Lauren’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience, support, and a willingness to change. If you’re feeling stuck or unsure about your own path, remember that transformation is possible. With the right guidance and a little courage, you too can take that leap into a healthier, happier life.
