Straight Talk on Navigating Marriage: Lessons in Love, Health, and Personal Growth

As a wellness coach, I've always been passionate about promoting healthy eating habits and nourishing the body with whole foods. However, early in my marriage to my husband, a former college and professional NFL football player, I found myself struggling with his eating habits. Keith and I jumped into marriage after college, but our connection goes way back to high school where we were good friends. During our college years, Keith was tearing up the football field at USC, while I was sprinting my heart out for UCLA but despite the distance and our hectic schedules, we always found time to share a meal and cheer each other on. Our friendship only grew stronger and love blossomed.
Keith's high-energy lifestyle as a motivational speaker, traveling the world and constantly on the move, presented unique challenges when it came to nutrition. The demands of his work often left him prioritizing convenience and quick energy fixes over nourishing meals. Getting on and off planes, enduring long tiring drives, and facing fluctuating schedules made it difficult for him to consistently prioritize healthy eating. Like many men, Keith was fiercely committed to working out daily but struggled with portion control and making good nutritional choices amidst his busy schedule.
